What if you just woke up today (June 1, 2011) from a long 'Rip Van Winkle' sleep and the first article you read was New York Times writer David Brooks's column from this past Monday entitiled 'It's Not About You'? Well here's the link so you can read it: http://nyti.ms/jnyVab I hope this article would make you angry. Not with David Brooks but with the truth that he imparts regarding our children's future. Chances are that you grew up in an environment that had fewer choices but more economic stability. Today, as Brooks wrote, our young generation "enter[s] a bad job market, the hangover from decades of excessive borrowing...they inherit a ruinous federal debt." Well, there is a solution for our future generations and that is the growing Social Networking industry. A radical shift is taking place and more individuals are understanding what management guru Peter Drucker scribed over ten years ago: "In a few hundred years, when the history of our time will be written from a long-term perspective, it is likely that the most important event historians will see is not technology, not the Internet, not e-commerce. It is an unprecedented change in the human condition. For the first time -- literally -- substantial and rapidly growing numbers of people have choices. For the first time, they will have to manage themselves." ~ Peter F. Drucker ~ Managing Knowledge Means Managing Oneself ~ (2000) The future is bright as we shift our dependance away from government and corporations. If William Shakespeare were living today he might say 'the future is not in governments or corporations but in ourselves'. As we accept this transition, we will continue to band together with monetized Social Networks that are virtually FREE to join and prosper.
